History & Culture of
Helena Montana

 |
Helena,
Montana
Just twenty
minutes away, Helena has the charm and attributes of a contemporary
state capital, a college town, and an historic gold mining town, all
rolled into one great city. Helena, Montana was born in July 1864 when
four prospectors discovered gold. Helena quickly became a “gold strike
boom town” and, by 1870, there were hundreds of businesses in Helena.
The city continues to thrive, as the seat of Montana’s state
government, the home of two colleges, and as a regional business and
retail center. There are superb medical facilities, a walking mall
filled with shops and restaurants, plus the entertainment, shopping,
business, and construction services you would expect to find in any
major city.
Helena, Montana features historical landmarks like the Myrna Loy
Center for performing arts, the 1888 Governor’s Mansion, the Cathedral
of St. Helena, and the lovely Victorians of the mansion district.
